Ken began working in the technology world with positions at IBM, Sun Microsystems and Digital and has been active in the crypto markets since 2017. He has been an integral part of financing and building organizations across multiple industries including real estate, retail, heavy industry, and technology including virtual reality and crypto. Ken has an MBA from the University of Calgary with a focus on new venture finance and technology.
Kelly has over 30 years of experience primarily in management within the financial and alternative asset sectors. He is a Managing Partner at Cypress Hills Partners, an alternative specialty lending firm, which he co-founded in 2014. Cypress Hills has funded in excess of $150 million in loans to borrowers across Canada and the US, which have adopted disruptive data driven science or technology including businesses within the Bitcoin ecosystem. Prior to this, he was a co-founder and CEO of TSX-V listed Falco Resources, a natural resource data mining play, which harvested a 100-year-old data set resulting in one of the largest digital data mining discoveries in Canada. Kelly received a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan, an MBA from Royal Roads University, and earned the Institute of Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D) from Rotman School of Business.
Brad Farquhar is Co-Founder, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of SSC Security Services Corp. (TSXV: SECU), a leading Canadian provider of physical and cyber security services. Previously, Brad was a founder of Input Capital Corp. (an agricultural streaming company), founding partner at Assiniboia Capital Corp. and cofounded Assiniboia Farmland Limited Partnership, the first farmland investment fund in Canada. The company was sold to the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board in 2014 for $128 million.
Prior to co-founding Assiniboia, Brad spent 15 years as a senior political advisor at the federal and provincial level in Canada and has been involved in election assistance projects in Ukraine, Tajikistan, Egypt, and Jamaica. He has taught political science at the University of Regina, and served on the board of the International Centre for Human Rights & Democratic Development in Montreal.
Brad has been an active impact investor around the world over the last decade, advising and investing in companies located in such diverse places as West & North Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East, Australia, Nepal, Mongolia, Ukraine, Maldives, and Dubai. He has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Electoral Governance from Griffith University in Australia and a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Providence University College in Manitoba.
Brad is currently a member of the board for various venture capital, environmental and real estate firms spanning across the globe. His deep seeded global relationships along with his business acumen will bring considerable value to LUXXFOLIO.
David Gens is a financial services entrepreneur/investor and is the founder, Chairman, President & CEO of Merchant Growth and Merchant Opportunities Fund, one of Canada’s largest fintech lending platforms. Merchant Growth is an online small business finance company and has funded over $300M in 5,000+ transactions since 2009.
David brings proven leadership level experience to our board. He was named a finalist in EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2016 and 2018. He has successfully built one of Canada’s most dynamic fintech companies using automation and AI, which are key technologies to be harnessed by LUXXFOLIO in our crypto mining management solutions and smart contracts. Also, he has earned great respect from his peers with Top 40 under 40 award by Business in Vancouver and Top 30 under 30 award in BC Business Magazine.
David is a graduate of the prestigious UBC Portfolio Management Foundation.
Dr. Byron currently sits on the board of five publicly-traded companies and has had executive roles in several others, bringing to LUXXFOLIO over 30 years of domestic and international experience, taking and managing companies from early stage to public listing.
He has provided consulting services to several junior explorers on African and South American gold and diamond projects, and co-founded a number of exploration companies with interests in North and South America. Dr. Byron was Vice President, Exploration of Aurora Platinum Corp. until its sale to FNX Mining in 2005. As the initial Vice President, Exploration of Lake Shore Gold, he directed expansion of their exploration projects in the Timmins Gold Camp and oversaw the growth of the Timmins West deposit to more than 1.2 million ounces of gold, laying the foundations for the now producing gold mine. In 2008, he joined Nighthawk Gold Corp. and began developing projects in the Northwest Territories. As Director and Chief Geologist he supervised the acquisition and advancement of the former producing Colomac Gold mine into a new multi-million ounce opportunity.
Dr. Byron is a professional geoscientist registered in Ontario and the Northwest Territories, and holds advanced degrees in Geology, including a PhD from Carleton University of Ottawa, Ontario. His deep understanding of financial statements and senior office public market experience will bring tremendous value to the growth of LUXXFOLIO.
